Mission

Our mission is to facilitate international experiences for historically marginalized people through economic resources and information.

Vision

Traveling Mercy aims to create a just and peaceful society through shared experiences and international exposure.

About

Traveling Mercy facilitates international experiences for those who have been historically excluded from international travel.

We believe travel is a necessity and not a luxury and should therefore be inclusive. Our mission is rooted in the benefits that marginalized groups’ access to travel results in, such as increased self-awareness, opportunity, and learning, as well as contributing to societal justice and peace.

How do We do this?

Annually, we directly sponsor international trips for our grantees through our partner organizations. We select partners that work in the international travel space and share our values of access to travel for marginalized groups. Find information on partnership here.

Additionally, limited financial assistance is given on a case by case basis to travelers needing funding. To find out more about the application process, contact us.

We provide first-time traveler advising, donate travel necessities, and advise on passport and travel-safety matters on a rolling basis.

History

Traveling Mercy is a 501(c)(3) organization that facilitates international experiences for historically marginalized people. It was founded in 2017 after noticing a lack of representation in global travel. Traveling Mercy helps to foster self-awareness, interconnection, and peace through facilitating international experiences for historically marginalized groups.

Who are the historically marginalized? Well, often times we pigeon-hole ourselves into focusing on one group and we miss several others. Traveling Mercy does not focus on one group, or one form of marginalization. Through providing international experiences for people of color, women, the elderly, those of low socio-economic status, LGBTQ, formerly incarcerated, differently abled and religious minorities, etc. Just and inclusive travel builds equity through turns into job opportunities, innovation, self awareness and empathetic citizens. Traveling Mercy believes that we can leave the world better than we found it.
